Frequently Asked Questions

Q: "All historically Black sororities are the same... Why does Zeta claim to be unique?"

A: There is a big difference between the historically Black sororities! Just like the stores you shop in or the churchs you attend, no two are exactly the same. The basic ingredients are comparable, but each is different in it's principles, history, and personality.

This is certainly true for Zeta Phi Beta. Zeta is unique in its principle of finer womanhood. It has also has many firsts among the 4 historically black sororities. Firsts include:

  • First to establish its own adult and youth auxiliary clubs.
  • First historically black sorority to establish an international chapter in Africa.
  • First and ONLY historically black sorority constitutionally bound to a fraternity.

Q: I am interested in becoming a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority. What should I do?

A: Before you decide to join any sorority it should be given a lot of thought. When considering Zeta, ask yourself:

· Do I like working with other people of different backgrounds?
· Have I done research on all four of the historically African-American sororities?
· Does this organization possess standards that are important me?
· Do I have the time and financial resources required to commit to the sorority?
· Does the organization live up to its founding principles and ideals?

Once you determine whether joining a sorority is for you, here are some things you should do:

· Attend the organization's functions to see what type of activities they sponsor or take part in.
· Get to know the chapter members in a casual and friendly way.
· Keep your eyes open for announcements about meetings regarding membership.
· Be sure that you are doing it for yourself.
